One life one Filofax, or more???

Hi guys!

Well, the title says it all. Are you in the 'one life one Filofax' camp, or do you use different Filofaxes for home/work/other?

I am firmly in the 'one life one Filofax' camp. I have various different commitments I need to keep track of so if I had different Filofaxes all on the go at the same time, things would get missed.  Here's what I keep track of in just my personal-sized diary (slimline binder) which is a week on one page with notes and a week's worth of DPP:

  1. Work hours (they change during school holidays).
  2. Freelance jobs.
  3. General social commitments.
  4. Band rehearsals.
  5. Band concerts.
  6. Cricket matches and admin deadlines (I'm Secretary for hubby's cricket club).
  7. Daughter's commitments.
  8. Hubby's commitments.
  9. School holidays.
  10. Dates I'm on call.
  11. General reminders & stuff to do.
  12. Birthdays.
  13. Important family deadlines.
  14. Important work deadlines & meetings that would affect general scheduling.

I also use my own DIY templates to keep track of various other things, but you can see details of my full setup here.

For work, I use an A4 binder and a month-on-one-page diary printed off the internet here, but most of what I do doesn't require me to remind myself of anything. I have odd deadlines and meetings but generally, my work just flows easily without much organisation required, although I do use Outlook to follow-up emails and for the calendar function.

As far as housework chores are concerned, I use a small whiteboard in the dining room to remind me of what needs to be done. This means that my hubby can see it and help me!!!  (Yeah right . . .)

For time-specific reminders, I'll use my Filofax but also put a reminder on my phone to alert me audibly at the necessary time. I put to dos on the 'notes' page of my WPP+N diary and then I plan my whole day out on a daily page from my DPP diary (I keep a about a week's worth in my slimline).

I've recently bought my first A5 (ssssssshhhhhhhhhhhh...keep that to yourself...) and I'm currently in the process of making a list of things I can use it for.  There won't be a diary in it though...although I might use the one that came with it as a journal/record of sorts.

So, are you in the 'one life one Filofax' camp, or do you juggle multiple Filofaxes? How do you make sure that nothing gets missed? Do you sync them every day or once a week? Do you use a mobile phone or other form of technology as well?

And have you got any ideas about how I can use my new A5???

Filofax Fail!

Hello all!

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to try a style of Filofax that I haven't already got - a zipped Compact. I love the compact size (although I prefer the slimline and use one as my every day Filo). I thought I'd give the Pennybridge a go as a Filofax/purse combo. Obviously I used the 10% discount code and bought it from City Organiser. And here it is, in all it's purple glory!

The front

The back

The inside with inserts included
 Looks quite roomy in the purse section - loads of slots for cards.

The purse section

The back inside slip pocket
 So I decided to 'move in' and check it out. Here comes the FAIL...

This includes the contents of my slimline and purse

I could only just close it!
 It looked like a clutch bag and I felt a bit of a berk carrying it...

Just too squashed
What a shame!  I could only just fit everything in, and that's just with the contents of my slimline. There just wasn't enough room and I could only just get the zip to close. Bummer! So I returned it to CO for a refund.

Oh well, not every purchase is going to be a good one!  Now, onto my next... ;-)

A naughty enabling post!

Hi guys!

I've just spotted someone selling A5 Chameleon Filofaxes in raspberry, red and black on eBay for £34.99 plus £3 postage!  Sounds like a bargain to me.  I can't recommend the seller though - never heard of them before and they don't have much feedback - but they accept returns and if you're after one of these beautiful Filofaxes at a bargain price, knock yourself out!

:-)

What's in my handbag today???

Hello all!

I thought I'd do a little post about what I've currently got in my handbag.

I like to keep the contents down to a minimum as much as I can - I've had a major issue with my shoulder in the past and I certainly don't want a repeat performance of passing out in the bathroom and smacking my face on the basin again due to the crippling pain!!!

My current bag of choice (although I change it fairly regularly depending on my outfit or my plans for the day!) is my grey Betty Barclay shopper. It's PU rather than leather, which makes it fairly light to carry. It also has an 'across the body' strap but it's quite a large bag so I rarely use that. I believe the RRP is £98 but I paid £29.99 in good old local TK Maxx. Here it is...

As you'll see, it has a rather scary psychedelic lining!  There's a large full-length zipped pocket down the middle, plus a mobile phone and purse pouch at the front.

You seriously wouldn't believe how many handbags I own. My handbag obsession is worse than my Filofax one!

And here are the contents...

From top left to right, it have my:
  1. Kindle in clear pencil case to reduce bulk & weight (check out my post here);
  2. Slimline Damson Adelphi Filofax (check out my post here);
  3. Tula leather make-up bag (with slimmed-down contents);
  4. Mini pack of wipes (I have a 6 year old daughter - 'nuff said!);
  5. Mini pack of tissues;
  6. Raspberry Tula purse (check out my post here);
  7. Umberella (a lady should never be without);
  8. Mini tube of Nivea hand cream;
  9. My pass for work;
  10. Mini zipped purse/make-up bag (containing plasters, antiseptic wipes, paracetamol etc);
  11. Mobile phone;
  12. Camera case containing a small Canon camera;
  13. Car and house keys;
  14. Emergency snacks.
I'm not one for packing my bag full of unnecessary stuff but I absolutely must have the minimum, and this is it.

How about you? Do you slim down the contents of your handbag or does everything but the kitchen sink go in there??? Do you have any tips for keeping your bag as light as possible???
